After knitting happily nearly all my life with cheap acrylic yarn i have discovered there is much more out there (I did know it was, I just never persued it). Better, softer and difinately more colourful. The area I live in at the moment is fairly remote, 60km to the nearest town with real shopping. I have only 2-3 stores that sell yarn, a discount shop that sells cheap ($2 a ball 8ply (DK)) and a department strore that sells 4ply (fingering) and 8ply (DK) yarn, but still all cheap and no variety in colour
Now that I have joined Ravelry, I have found a lot of things I would love to make, but can't get my hands on the required materials!!
After searching online for the yarn I need, I have found such a wonderful variety of colour that I find it hard to choose. But when it comes to checkout, they either don't ship to Aust. or the shipping cost more than doubles the cost of my order. I guess I will just have to go window (or monitor) shopping for now and just dream of the soft squishiness that others talk about :(
