Snakes Alive!!!!

A couple of days ago the boys came running inside excitedly yelling "mum, we saw a snake". The thought came to mind that a couple of weeks ago they came running in telling me they saw an echidnea (a spiny anteater), which turned out to be an uprooted cactus!!

This is a pic of one from our old house that we caught to show the kids, then released

They made me follow them out to see it and sure enough I found it laying in the grass about 50cm from the verandah. It was an eastern brown snake. I called out to Jamie for my boots and to get the kids inside, which caused a riot, they all wanted to see me kill the snake. Anyway, I didn't want them copying me with the next one they found, so inside they stayed.

It took me a three good hits with the sharp end of the spade, and that was just to get him really angry, then I got it right behind the head and stood on the spade with all my weight and 'off with his head'. then I had to hide the evidence in the big bin before setting the savages free from the house to try and sniff out the body.
