In Limbo
Don't get me wrong, I will be forever grateful for the time we spent staying at my parents place. We had our stuff in storage; we had a roof over our heads and family around. We had good and bad times, but best of all we got to spend time getting to know them again.
BUT....
The 3 ½ months we spent living in Pt Lincoln is a time I felt like I was in limbo. We seemed to spend the time just waiting for the rest of our lives to start. We had animals still living at our last place, we had no place of our own to go to. Living in a caravan with 3 small kids was a challenge on it's own. Add to that recipe, a huge dash of inquisitiveness, loads of new, accessible stuff (contents of my parents shed & surrounding things). That place just wasn't set up for kids like ours.
Living in town had other temptations. A trip to the shops was so easy, and often expensive. Since we weren't paying rent at the time we used that extra money to catch up on things we needed for the kids. We also had to buy extra things to replace stuff that was in storage.
Sleep was hard to come by, especially on weekends when the hoons came out. We were close to the train tracks and until the kids learned to sleep through the TOOT at around 5.30am every morning, that was our wakeup call.
Still praying for our house which never seemed to come. Growing impatient, we started looking for a place and never seemed to come up with a place that suited us.
Getting Ashlea in high school – she hated it and hardly seemed to go
Getting Dylan in kindy – he hated it and never wanted to go
Both of them couldn't cope with the class sizes – both coming from a smaller school with class sizes under 15 students.
