We get the animals
Two weeks into our stay at Lincoln, the people looking after our animals called to let us know that the steer had been out and that they were a bit worried. We needed to get back and sort them out.
Back to the prayers again, sell up or bring them over. Our friends had been trying to sell them for us so it would be easier. We had nowhere for them to go when they got here. I really, really didn't want to sell them, but it seemed to be the only option. We couldn't find agistment for them near Lincoln, and we couldn't find a place of our own. There followed a parade of people that were interested, but none that wanted to pay a reasonable price. We didn't have the money at the time to go get them anyway, but still needed to make the trip to finish up with moving, we still had a few things to collect and last minute cleaning up and trips to the tip to make (when we were actually moving, the tip was mostly closed due to fire ban days).
Prayers answered: Before Jamie left, we were able to find a farmer that was willing to put the cow and steer up for $50 a week. My sister and her husband found someone willing to take the sheep.
Prayers answered: There came a phone call from medicare, they were reimbursing us just over $1 000 for money paid from work cover. Then another call from centrelink, Jamie had been approved for disability support payments (after 6 months of paperwork & doctor reports), they were back paying him just over $1 000 for the 6 months he had been waiting. We now had the money to make the trip.
Jamie went on his own; I wasn't taking the kids on that trip again, so I stayed in Lincoln. It took him a week to get finished up and all loaded up. The cow and sheep went onto the trailer fine, but they couldn't get the steer onto the trailer. After everyone was too tired ot continue, they went for a rest and came back later. The cheeky bugger had just walked on the trailer himself and they shut the gate.
