We finally had the container loaded and it was time to go. We had to leave the animals behind, we had nowhere to put them when we got there, and no way of getting them there yet. We had friends to care for them.
We set off fairly late in the day, we couldn't wait any longer for the truck to come. We had a friend come over when the truck came to make sure everything went ok. It DIDN'T.
They told us that we had filled it too heavy and tried to blame us. But we found out what happened. They sent a rookie driver and when he tried to winch the container onto the back of the truck he did something wrong and when it wouldn't go up, he got in the truck to nudge it along, and broke his cable. The container came sliding off and hit the ground. Our friend went and found one of his neighbours and his tractor, to help push the container up onto the truck, this took an extra 4 hours. This driver was fired.
It was a long and exhausting trip again. I had been up til 3am finishing up the cleaning of the house. We had 2 cars to bring over so no releif driver, except Ashlea, who had a learners permit. She could only drive at 80km/h, but did a couple hours of driving. We arrived in Port Lincoln at 2am, climbed into bed and slept.
