A week after dropping the steer off at the butcher, we were back to pick him up. Once again we were surprised that GSTax hadn't been mentioned in the price and we had to come up with an extra $50, which left us broke for the rest of the week, but we had more than we could eat. We got him bulk packed (it was cheaper) and had to pack the meat ourselves. We ended up with 240kg of farm fresh meat and soup/stock bones (bones not in the pic).
Here it all is laid out on a single bed sheet.
The race was on to get it all packed and in the freezer as quickly as we could.
The odd bits and pieces that didn't fit into a meal size pack, went straight into the pan for tasting. The sausages especially are delicious. I don't like store bought sausages, and these and the ones from the last steer were great.
