Once Rosie was in the corner paddock, I went down there every morning to check her water and give her a bucket of goodies (a mix of grains & tasty stuff for cows). A few days after she had been in there, she was gone again!! This time she was nowhere to be seen. The paddock gate was still shut and the fences were all up.
Looking around the paddock I glimpse a movement next door, and sure enough, there she was, just grazing on their grass. Luckily, the neighbours don't actually live there. It's like a big holiday shed and they only come out some weekends to do some work or stay etc. and luckily they don't have any garden, just trees and grass.
We managed to get her back over the fence after noticing the staples in the wire had been popped out so the fence could lay down enough for her to get over.
We fixed the wire back to the post and all was well again. Until the next day and the next day and the day after that. Then we had to come up with a better solution. Rosie was actually leaning on the fence to get to the grass and her weight on the wire was just popping the staples out, the posts were getting loose and starting to wobble.
I found a couple of rolls of fence wire up behind the big shed and ran them along the fence above the other wire, to make it higher, fixed the new wire to the top of the posts, and 'sewed' the new top to the old bottom with a roll of straight wire. It took a few hours, but was well worth it. It has kept her in.
After the grass ran out in the corner paddock, we had to secure the rest of the property (excluding the house yard, It is only one paddock, and the driveway) and have since let her roam free.
