About a month ago (I only just found the pics) we went to a friends block for a bonfire. I think they have one every year with the accumulated, burnable materials collected in a pile, awaiting the middle of winter. It was fantastic.

On a day that was wet, cold and windy, by that evening it was calm and only a couple of scattered showers. The kids had never been to a bonfire before and kept asking where the 'bombs' were until the fire was lit. The fire was huge and a great time was had by all. 
A special chimney made from a stack of old bee boxes, a speciality of our host, an apiarist (bee keeper).
